| The
following factors affect what you pack:
- The
weather is cool at the elevation you will be hunting.
- Expect
lows around freezing on early hunts.

The terrain is steep in places but you have options and won’t
have to climb.

The ground is dry.

Flying insects are few.
-
You will stop at a store for beer and snacks as you depart El Paso for
camp.

Safe drinking water is supplied.
The
following items are suggested:
- You
must have a passport to visit Mexico.
- Also
carry on your person a photo ID such as a driver’s license.
- No
special vaccinations are required, but a tetanus shot is recommended.
Many
of the items below are furnished by the outfitters but to be certain of
having what you want, bring the following with you:
- Usual
winter/spring turkey hunting clothing and boots
- Binoculars,
small
- Calling
device—yelpers, etc.
- Turkey
decoy (collapsible type) if you use them
- Flashlight
- Hand
compass or GPS
- Camera
and film & small video camcorder
- Cigarette
lighter or matches
- Photo
copies of documents--passport, tickets, etc. pack separately from the
originals
- A
zip-lock bag for bones if you want a yelper made from them
- Toiletries
including bath soap
- Sleeping
bag
- Bath
towel and wash cloth
- Medical--prescriptions,
band aides, iodine, antibiotic cream, anti-diarrheal drug.
- Moist
towelettes (“baby wipes”)
- Knife—be
sure to pack it in your checked luggage, not carry-on
- A
cardboard box, flattened, for your turkey skin. Pack in bottom of your
suitcase.
- A
heavy-duty garbage bag for your trophy skin
- Cash
for tips (about $60 total is suggested). U.S. dollars are OK.
- Booze
if you use it or you can ask the outfitter to stop at a liquor store
The
following items are not needed:
You
will not need--rubber boots, summer clothing, back pack, supplies to prepare
your trophy, or shotgun ammo. Be sure not to inadvertently leave rifle
or shotgun ammo in a suit case.
